Installing the FastBid Plugin for the Firefox Browser

Step 1: On the BXWA Homepage, Select Fastbid Install (Upper Left Corner)

FastBid is a free plug-in that allows your Firefox Browser to read and measure the drawings and specifications on the Builders Exchange of Washington website.

The download and installation takes only a few seconds.

If you are connected to a network, installation may require that you be logged in as "Administrator". If you don't know if you are an "Administrator", try the installation anyway...if it fails, then you may need to have your network manager assist with the installation. (Also, see "Troubleshooting" at the bottom of this help screen)

Step 2: On the FastBid Status Page, Select "Install it"

Step 3: When you receive a Security Warning, Select "Install"

Note: If you do not see the above dialog box, look for a warning line below the browser tabs:
"Firefox prevented this site (www.bxwa.com) from asking you to install software on your computer"

Select "Allow" (the button located to the right of the warning)

Step 4: When the Add-ons dialog box appears, select "Restart Firefox"

Step 5: Look for the FastBid Status: "Up to date"

Troubleshooting: If you don't get an "Up to date" status message

If you do NOT see the FastBid Status: "Up to date" message, then the FastBid plug-in has not properly installed and you will not be able to view drawings and specifications.

What to do if installaton fails:

Log in as "Administrator"	If you are on a network or a shared computer, you may not be logged in as "Administrator". Contact your network managers to get help...their security regulations may require that they conduct the installation.
Out of Date Browser	If you are using early versions of Firefox, you need to upgrade to version 3.0 or later.
Un-supported Browser	FastBid Reader will not install on the Chrome or Netscape browers.
